Several scoring systems exist to help identify which patients are at higher risk of death in non-variceal UGI bleeds. This 10-point scoring system, the PNED, was prospectively validated on 1360 patients, and outperformed the Rockall, with AUCs of 0.81 and 0.66, respectively. This scoring system appears to predict mortality as well if not better than the commonly utilized Rockall score, and is another option to risk stratify patients with non-variceal UGI bleeds (abstract)
