Hospital admission patterns highly predict readmission rates

In this large database analysis of Medicare hospitalizations, researchers found the strongest predictor of hospital readmission rates were overall hospitalization rates, which accounted for significantly more variability than patient conditions, discharge planning quality, or physician/bed supply.
