Medication bar-coding reduces errors

In this pre-post study of the effect of a bar-code electronic medication administration, researchers found this technology reduced medication administration errors by 41%, reduced potential adverse drug events by 51%, and reduced timing errors by 27% (abstract). Bar-code electronic medication administration can markedly improve medication safety.
