There has been expansive growth of RRT’s in US hospitals, but the impact of these teams on outcomes is unclear. In this meta-analysis of 18 studies from 1.3 million admissions, initiation of an RRT significantly reduced the risk of cardiac arrest outside of an ICU (RR=0.66), but did not reduce the risk of death (abstract)
