More data on starting HAART early in HIV

In this collection of 18 cohorts of HIV patients, researchers compared outcomes of patients with HAART initiated at CD4 counts 251-350 versus those initiated at CD4 counts 351-450. Those who deferred until lower CD4 counts had higher risk of death or AIDS (HR 1.28, CI 1.04-1.57), indicating benefit of early HAART initiation (abstract).
