Multiple blood cultures from a single site accurately predict true infection

In this large retrospective analysis of almost 1,000 blood cultures, true blood stream infections were correlated with the number of blood cultures collected, and all organisms had 100% predictive value with 4 cultures. This single sample technique should be considered, rather than multiple daily cultures, for determining bacteremia (abstract)
