Prevalence of PE during sickle cell acute chest syndrome

In this prevalence study of patients with acute chest syndrome, 17% of those that underwent CT chest scanning had evidence of a (macro vascular) PE. It is not clear what to make of these CT findings, and if patients with CT findings of PE during acute chest would benefit from anticoagulation. But it is interesting to know the prevalence is quite high (abstract).
