Prevalence of “silent” MI

In this population based cohort of high risk patients (but with no known CAD), researchers found myocardial scar by MRI imaging in 9%. The strongest risk factors for “silent” MI were older age, male sex, and smoking. These risk factors should heighten our vigilance for silent ischemia during hospital stays (abstract)
