Risk factors for PICC line infections

This large single center study found the following factors were independently associated with PICC line infections: CHF, intra-abdominal perforation, Cdiff, recent chemotherapy, tracheostomy, or double/triple-lumen catheter. Future studies will need to determine if the presence of these factors should dictate specific interventions to reduce the risk (abstract)
