Single high-dose statin beneficial before PCI

In this trial of 668 statin-naive patients scheduled for PCI, they were randomized to 80mg atorvastatin or placebo the day before the procedure. The rate of peri-procedural MI was significantly lower in the atorvastatin group (10% vs 16%). A single high dose statin reduces the risk of post-PCI MI (abstract)
