Steroids for pneumonia?

In this trial of 300 non-ICU patients admitted with CAP, they were randomized to steroids (dexa 5mg IV qday for 4 days) or placebo. Although the steroids patients had 1 day shorter length of stay, they were significantly more likely to be hyperglycemic. The risks and benefits are not yet clear enough to routinely recommend this in hospitalized CAP patients (abstract)
