Stroke certified hospitals have lower stroke mortality

In this large national analysis of Medicare beneficiaries hospitalized with a stroke, those centers with Joint Commission stroke certification had lower risk-adjusted mortality than those not certified (30 day mortality 10.9% vs 12.%). Readmission rates were similar There appears to be a mortality benefit obtained at stroke certified hospitals (abstract)
