Unplanned ICU transfers

In this single center cohort, 152 patients had an unplanned transfer to the ICU over the course of a year. Almost 20% of them were due to errors, half due to inappropriate admit triage and half due to iatrogenic errors. Medical centers should evaluate the errors that result in unplanned ICU transfers (abstract).
