VTE prophylaxis and mortality

In this large multi-center ICU study, patients who did not receive VTE prophylaxis within 24 hours of ICU admission were significantly more likely to die than those who did, even after adjusting for confounders (OR death 1.22, CI 1.15 to 1.30). Continued efforts to consistently prescribe VTE prophylaxis for ICU patients is needed (abstract)
