In this large retrospective cohort of inpatients, overall risk of Cdiff was 1% of all admits, and hospital-acquired Cdiff tripled the risk of death. Continued work needs to be done with prevention and early treatment of Cdiff, to reduce the risk of Cdiff-associated mortality (abstract)
Dr. Scheurer is a clinical hospitalist and the Medical Director of Quality and Safety at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, South Carolina, and is Assistant Professor of Medicine.
