Extra-pulmonary TB in the US

In this analysis of US surveillance of TB cases from 1993 to 2006, 19% were extra-pulmonary. The most common sites were lymphatic (40%), pleural (20%), bone/joint (11%), GU (7%), meningeal (5%), and peritoneal (5%). Extra-pulmonary cases have increased from 16% to 21% of TB cases (from 1993 to 2006). Now 1 in 5 TB cases in the US are extra-pulmonary (abstract)
