Surgical delays and outcomes in hip fractures

In this single center cohort of patients with hip fractures, those with delays had higher morbidity and mortality, most of which was explained by co-morbid conditions, but not for surgical delays >120 hours. Almost 2/3 of the delays were due to OR availability, and 1/3 were due to medical co-morbidities. Every effort should be made to get hip fracture patients to the OR within 4-5 days (abstract)
