Younger docs, higher healthcare costs

By  |  November 6, 2012 |

This large retrospective cohort of physicians in Massachusetts found those with <10 years of experience had 13% higher healthcare cost profiles than those with 40+ years of experience. There was no association between physician cost and board certification, past malpractice claims/disciplinary action, or practice size. Cost-profiling for reimbursement purposes may differentially affect younger physicians, and the reasons behind these cost differentials need further investigation (abstract).
